Changes to my study programme

I am studying social work, the study plan for this career has very interesting subjects such as psychology, economics, philosophy, sociology, fundamentals of social work, Social Justice, Rights and Citizenship; investigation methodology, etc. This career lasts 5 years, and the workload is heavy, we must read many texts, understand the classes that last many hours, but I think that although it is difficult this will be very useful to us. Although I like my career, I think the teaching method is very "square", we don't leave the four walls, It is a very academic and impractical teaching method, of the two years that I have been in this career I only have memories of me reading many texts.
I think it is tedious that the investigation is reinforced so much, I know it is important, but I would like to learn more about intervention, I don't want to spend my life doing research, I also don't like to see the people as mere objects of study, for example, the mapuche are tired of the people going to their communities to do investigations and that there is no social change for them. I would like to know other spaces; besides the university, I want to do some practice and work in the field. At the university there are facilities that I really like and others that I don't like. There are rooms that are very small and uncomfortable. I have gone to the economics and business faculty, which is much more beautiful, but I don't care much about the infrastructure, the important thing is learn. I have not used the university technology much, I have only printed some texts.

  1. Even though learning is the most important thing, it is sad that other careers have much better infrastructure than us.

  2. I think the same as you, it is a lot of theory and they do not teach us much practice. Personally it is something that scares me when I leave the career I do not know how to cope well in the field

  3. I think similarly, hopefully teachers learn from complaints from previous students and have a better experience and practice.
